Meet the Teacher
I am extremely excited to be working with your child and teaching Art at Central Primary! I want to take the time to tell you a little about myself and the way I teach.
I grew up in Washington and graduated from Central Grade School. I love working for the school I attended as a child and it is amazing to see how the district has grown since then! I earned my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Art as a double major and graduated Cum Laude from Eureka College. While at Eureka, I ran track and played soccer for the Red Devils. I completed my student teaching experience with a split placement, half at Central Primary (in 3rd grade) and the other half in Germantown Hills teaching Art (kindergarten through sixth grade). I was hired by district 51 in 2010 and taught first grade here for 8 years! I was extremely excited for the opportunity to start an art program at Central. This will be my third year teaching Art and I'm looking forward to the new school year!
Along with being an educator, a few of my personal interests include art, watching cubs baseball, traveling, and coaching. I coached men’s and women’s soccer at Eureka College for two years after I graduated and stepped down to spend more time on my students and further my education. I completed my master’s degree at Saint Xavier University in fall of 2013! This summer I finished a second masters program at American College of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Literacy.
I am eager to get to know all of you better! I believe that all children can learn and succeed with the right support and tools. This year I plan to get to know your child’s strengths and teach to those strengths. Thank you for this opportunity to work with your child. Parents, if you have any questions please contact me via email at [email protected] or simply pick up the phone. We will learn a lot this year and have fun along the way!
